Internet Connection

Independent Portal is an internet based service, and is thus impacted by the quality of the internet connection you're using. The site has been designed to only require relatively low connection speeds to increase its usability, particularly in rural areas, and parts of Australia not serviced by high quality broadband. Most areas of Australia have adequate internet connection speeds available.

Tips for in case you're having trouble with your internet connection:

Device Types

Independent Portal is developed for and tested on a range of device types and browsers. The site uses standard, widely accepted technologies in order to maximise its compatibility. However, very dated or obscure devices may potentially present issues.

The site is tested on the following browsers:

The site will work on smartphones, however due to the small size of smartphone screens some features will be difficult to use. It is recommended that a small tablet sized device (width of 7in. or 180mm) or larger is used.

Other than your browser and an internet connection, no special software is required to use Independent Portal. Note however that JavaScript must be enabled on your browser. This is almost always the default setting so is rarely something you need to change.

Business Continuity

Independent Portal is a 24 / 7 / 365 service (subject to downtime for planned maintenance). However, all systems are subject to occasional unexpected outages for a variety of reasons. It is therefore strongly recommended that all users of the system have contingency plans in place to ensure business continuity in the event of a prolonged outage.

Suggestions
